REAR END iF 7 REAR COMPARTMENT ALL STYLES The rear compartment lid employs two torque for lid on side from which hinge strap is to be rods that are mounted between the hinge assemblies removed to act as a counterbalance and hold open for the lid Notehes at the stationary end of the rods allow 2 Disengage any wire harness or vacuum hose for adjustment of the rods to increase operating that may interfere with hinge strap removal effort of the rods to increase or decrease operating effort of the lid 3 Mark location of hinge strap on lid inner panel and remove bolts securing hinge strap to lid The rear compartment lid lock employs a side action snapbolt mechanism that has provisions at 4 With a suitable tool disengage torque rod from the attaching locations for lateral adjustment Up notched retainer on inboard face of opposite hinge and down adjustment is available at the striker box attaching locations NOTE Mark retainer notch before removing All Styles use 1 single section cement on type torque rod to insure that rod is installed in weatherstrip which is cemented to the rear com same position partment gutter completely around the lid opening 5 Disengage opposite end of torque rod from movable portion of hinge strap and remove rod REAR COMPARTMENT LID ALL STYLES 6 Bend up hinge pin retaining tab and drive out pin Remove hinge strap from body see Fig lF7 Removal d Installation l Open lid and place protective covering along i edges of rear compartment opening to prevent damage to painted surfaces L P0SitiU hinge strap in hinge box and install hinge pin Bend over retaining tab to secure hinge 2 Where necessary disengage wire harness pin from clips on hinge and rear compartment lid inner lmm 1 and mUV WU h3T 5 2 Position hinge strap within scribe marks on 3 Oh 35000 36000 38000 45000 46000 and lid inner panel and install attaching bolts 48000 Series equipped with rear compartment lid lock vacuum release option disconnect vacuum 3 1 St 11 MUN Shuped End OI torque mdlo hi hose mm Vacuum rglehse uhh hhd remove hose box making certain outer end of rod is engaged in mm hd hole in outboard face of hinge box 4 Mark location of hinge straps on rear com partment lid inner panel txk h y 5 With the aid of a helper remove lid attaching lt Y LID HWGE STRAP bolts and remove lid see Fig lF Q 3 r BONE in f it Y 6 To install align lid within scribe marks and Q reverse removal procedure it V Adgustments l I 1 Forward rearward and side to side adyustments y of lid are provided at hinge sti ap attaching points I The lid can be raised or lowered at hinges by the L use of shims installed between inner panel and l i ENml w v Li HIt lGE Plt 1 I Y hinge strap Y thlnngpi s 2j tp TORQUE Roo m REAR coMRAR1Msr n un nance STRAP L i 1 l Y s ALL swiss sgi asedii if f m i Removal y QQ i j i g 1 Place protective covering over upper portion of rear compartment opening and provide support Fig lF7 Re r Compartment Lid Armchmem
