A S S E M B I Y I N S T R U C TI 0 N S 3862IOO CORVAIR IOOOO SERIES 3 4 3 LEAK TEST LIMITS EXCEPT AS NOTED ALL LINES CONNECTIONS AND SYSTEM COMPONENT SHALL BE FREE OF LEAKAGE WITH A SENSITIVITY CALIBRATION OF 1 LB IN 30 OR 40 YEARS DE PENDING UPON THE MODEL OF DETECTOR IBED THE COMPRESSOR SEAL HOT GAS VALVE STEM AND SIGHT GLASS SHALL SHOW NO LEAKAGE WITH A SENSI I IVITY CALIBRATION OF 1 LB IN 5 YEARS THE SELF SEALING COUPLINGS AND SHUT OFF VALVE SEATS OF CHARGED COMPONENTS AS RECEIVED SHALL SHOW NO LEAKAGE WITH A SENSI TIVITY CALIBRATION OF 1 LB IN 5 YEARS THE JOINTS SHALL BE CLEARED OF ANY ACCUMULATED FREON 12 PRIOR TO LEAK TEST 3 5 FUNCTIONAL TESTS PERFORMANCE TEST SHALL BE RUN WITH INLET AIR TEMPERATURES OF 70 F OR ABOVE AND WITH THE BY PASS VALVE LEVER IN THE COLDEST POSITION THE CAR HEATER SHALL BE IN THE OFF POSITION AND THERE SHALL BE NO AIR LEAKAGE FROM THE HEATERDUCT CL E ALL CAR DOORS AND WINDOWS START ENGINE AND SET CARBURETOR TO RUN AT 1500 R P M SET AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL TO COLDEST POSITION BLOWER TO HIGH SPEED ALLOW ENGINE TO OPERATE FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES DURING THE PERFORMANCE TEST THE SIGHT GLASS SHALL BE OBSERVED SEVERAL TIMES FOR A CLEAR COLUMN OF LIQUID THE OCCURENCE SLOW MOVING GAS BUBBLES OR A BROKEN COLUMN DUE TO THE CYCLING OF THE COMPRESSOR FOR SHORT PERIODS DURING NORMAL OPERATION SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED AN INDICATION OF REFRIGERANT SHORTAGE IF SIGHT GLASS IS GENERALLY CLEAR AND PERFORMANCE IS SATISFACTORY IF SIGHT GLASS CONSLSTENTLY SHOWS FOAMING OF A BROKEN LIQUID COLUMN IT SHALL BE OBSERVED DURING A RISE IN HEAD PRESSURE OBTAINED BY PARTIALLY BLOCKING THE AIR TO THE CONDENSER IF UNDER THIS CONDITION THE SIGHT GLASS CLEARS AND THE PERFORM ANCE IS OTHERWISE SATISFACTORY THE CHARGE SHALL BE CONSIDERED ADEQUATE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM SHALL BE CHECKED BY THE OPERATION OF THE BLOWER AT THE VARIOUS SPEEDS AND THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE COMPRESSOR CLUTCH THE OPERATION OF AIR VALVE AND TEMPERATURE CONTROLS SHALL BE CHECKED TO INSURE PROPER FUNCTIONTNG USING A TEMPERATURE TEST METER WITH A DIAL READING OF 0 T0 120 F AND AT LEAST A TWO STATION SELECTOR SWITCH AND TWO JACKS E WI I H 12 1 2 FEET OF BULB WIRE WE CAN CHECK TEMPERATURES AT DIVISION I V QZ J A UPC PAYE Sw V 1 ON c wm on cx Iv AIR CONDmONING GENERAL SPECS S m fg WG FR6 2 7 Z REF Pnl E 0 I L l DATE RF 2 7 L I L I B 1965 202
