ENGINE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS PART NO 3998333 CONT C V GENERAL INFORMATION y J 1 When installing clutch housing transmission pilot bore and face runout should be checked as specified in Chevrolet Shop Manual Also transfer inspection cover housing underpan underpan extension clutch fork boot and attaching parts from replaced engine 2 This engine has a high performance camshaft It is required to make Item CV and CW changes when using as a 1963 replacement 3 This engine has a crankshaft which uses 1 2 inch flywheel attaching bolts For this reason new pur chase of flywheel assembly attaching bolts and dowel pins plus converter assembly and attaching I parts on Powerglide models is required on models prior to 1967 4 On Series P and T models transfer of water by pass hoses clamps etc is also required 5 Models with optional equipment require transfer or replacement of engine parts special to such options V 4 6 When using on Powerglide Turbo Hydramatic or Powermatic vehicles remove clutch pilot bearing g 7 If any part number listed above is not shown in the current parts catalog check history section of catalog for replacing parts I 8 The intake manifold of this engine is equipped with a vacuum source located on the center branch for the crankcase ventilation system If desired this vacuum source can be used on past models by re moving the dust seal and installing connector part number 3859374 transferring the hose and clamp from the outboard fitting to the connector A IMPORTANT If the above source of vacuum is not used plug the opening with a 3 8 cup plug Part a No 838323 If converting to use the added source of vacuum plug previously used opening with 3 pipe plug Part No 445673 If above is used on vehicles equipped with vacuum power brakes oseal previously used A source of ventilator vacuiun by pinching tube to prevent leakage GM PARTS DIVISION GENERAL MOTORS CORPORAT ON CHEVROLET 72TM I 52
